Our Story – The Exeter Inn
Learn About Our Unique History
Established with a gift from Mrs. William Boyce Thompson and her daughter, Mrs. Anthony J. Drexel Biddle, Jr., The Exeter Inn has upheld a tradition of elegance, grace and hospitality in the center of the Phillips Exeter Academy campus since 1932. Tucked among the Academy’s historic buildings near the charming town of Exeter, NH, our boutique hotel reflects the quiet academic ambiance of the school while assuring the weary traveler a peaceful, relaxing stay.
The original function of The Inn was to host and accommodate visiting dignitaries, families of students and the young ladies who came to visit Academy students. Today, our New Hampshire hotel serves a broader range of clientele with the same hospitality and warmth we showed our very first guests. While The Inn’s beautiful Georgian architecture remains to this day, the property has been updated with all of the modern-day comforts contemporary business and leisure travelers seek.
