Let’s break down the barrier between artist and audience!
Gemma Soldati will perform and develop her original theatrical comedy piece, The Poor Rich with you, the live audience. Over the course of 3 performances (January 12, 19 and 26), Gemma will experiment, revise, and tinker with the 1-hour solo show based on feedback from the audience at each performance. Audiences are encouraged to engage in the creative process and help to shape what will eventually become the final product that Gemma will present throughout the US and the international fringe festival circuit.

Audiences are invited to attend all 3 performances to witness the progression of the piece. What has changed? What parts of the piece held strong throughout the weeks? Did Gemma take your feedback from the previous performance?

Not only is this unique experience for comedy/theatre/art people— it’s also for anyone who loves live entertainment and is curious to peer back behind the curtain to see how the sausage is made…and maybe even help make it!

Synopsis of The Poor Rich:
This interactive clown show about the absurdity of money and wealth is somewhere between a rousing game of monopoly and a rehearsal for our inevitable global economic collapse. How must we treat those poor rich? And what, then, to do with the poor? These questions and more may or may not be explored in this playful hour.

Gemma Soldati is an American performing and teaching artist. Her most recent award-winning touring show, The Living Room was a devised clown show with Amrita Dhaliwal. She has taught in Los Angeles, New England, and Toronto for both adults and children.

Gemma’s focus is clown-inspired work developed in front of live audiences. Her projects playfully dive deep into the heart of vital themes probing audiences with questions and meaning making— Grief, Ritual, Sleep, Dreams, and beyond.

Current project, The Adventures of Sleepyhead , a family show about the loss of one’s dreams, was developed at the New Hampshire Theatre Project and presented at the 2021 Edinburgh Festival Fringe by Assembly. Sleepyhead has also been adapted as a short video series for NHPBS with support from the New Hampshire Humanities.

She has devised and produced several shows in Los Angeles including The Cobbler, The Sleepover Show, The Living Room and Amateur Burlesque—featured in Comedy Bureau’s 2018 “100 Best Things in Comedy”

She was a recipient of a Community Grant by the New Hampshire Humanities, as well as an Artist Entrepreneurial Grant from New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
